Jan is Global Mining & Commodities Sector Head and a partner in the Corporate and M&A Group.
Jan specialises in corporate finance and M&A work, with an emphasis on businesses operating in the Mining and Commodities, Oil and Gas, energy and transport sectors, including cross-border and domestic acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, equity and debt issues for public and private companies, private equity transactions, corporate restructurings and commercial agreements.
Jan is recognised as a leading lawyer by legal directories Chambers UK, Legal 500 UK and IFLR. In Legal 500 2022, Jan is ranked as a ‘Hall of Fame’ lawyer, with clients noting him as “technically excellent, commercial, proactive and a pleasure to work with.” Chambers UK 2021 notes that he “is a pleasure to deal with; solid, dependable and a totally reassuring presence” and “diligent, flexible and committed to clients.”
- Advising Stadtwerke München on its participation in the Awel y Mor offshore windfarm extension project with Innogy Renewables and Siemens Project Ventures.
- Advised Sandfire Resources NL on its A$167m acquisition of dual ASX and LSE-listed mining company MOD Resources Ltd.
- Advised Coro Energy PLC on its acquisition of a 15% interest in the Duyung PSC, offshore Indonesia, for cash and shares consideration and a funding contribution to the 2019 drilling campaign and related issue of Eurobonds and linked warrants, both listed on the Euro MTF of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
- Advised Chaarat Gold Holdings Limited on its acquisition of the polymetallic Kapan mine in Armenia from the Polymetal International PLC group, constituting a reverse takeover under the AIM Rules, and related re-admission to AIM.
- Advising Wielton S.A on its acquisition of the entire issued share capital of UK-headquartered semi-trailer manufacturer Lawrence David Limited.
